Houston’s Galleria Reels in New Tenants

Houston—Simon Property Group has landed two more high-profile tenants at The Galleria in Houston, after already spending more than $250 million on revamping the iconic retail destination. Nobu and Fig & Olive are the latest retailers to join The Galleria’s tenant roster, which includes more than 75 exclusive concepts.

“There is significant consumer demand for fine dining options and The Galleria is pleased to be the first to welcome these exclusive brands,” Vicki Hanor, executive vice president & managing director of luxury leasing with Simon, said in a statement. “Our powerful leasing momentum continues to yield premier, luxury retailers and restaurants – many of which are first to Houston – including Yauatcha, The Webster, Christian Louboutin and Celine.”

In a deal facilitated by RFK, Nobu has signed a lease for 10,000 square feet at The Galleria, scheduled to open in the fall of 2017. The store will be the brand’s first Houston location and its second in the state of Texas. Nobu will occupy the former Saks Fifth Avenue space on the building’s second floor.

New York-based Fig & Olive will celebrate its first Texas location with the opening of its upscale French Riviera fare in the fall of 2017. The restaurant, which will also be housed in Saks’ former space on street level, will boast more than 7,000 square feet of upscale dining space.

The Galleria, currently still under construction, is already the largest complex in Texas and the fourth largest in the U.S. The 2.4 million-square-foot project will boast a mix of retail, hotel, office and residential spaces, and is owned by Simon Property Group. Earlier this spring, Simon revealed plans for a new luxury hotel and high-end residential tower to rise at The Galleria in late 2017.
