JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts and Pearl Hospitality have recently held the grand opening of the 328-room JW Marriott Houston Downtown. The hotel is located at 806 Main Street in the historic Samuel F. Carter Building and it represents Marriott’s first adaptive reuse project in Texas.

ARA Real Estate Investment Services, on behalf of Philadelphia-based Lubert-Adler Partners, recently helped with the sale of Tiburon, a 320-unit, Class A apartment community in Houston. The asset was acquired by a private individual for an undisclosed amount.

NRG Energy Inc. recently announced that it has begun work on a 360 megawatt, natural gas-fired peaking plant on a 230-acre site near Bacliff. Upon completion, the plant is expected to power more than 70,000 homes during peak time.

Houston’s Galleria will be home to a new Hyatt Hotel in the fall of 2015. The Hyatt Hotels Corporation recently announced that a Hyatt affiliate has entered into a franchise agreement with Songy HighRoads, an Atlanta-based company, for the development of the Hyatt Regency Houston Galleria.

Cabot Properties Incorporated, a Boston-based private equity REIT, has just closed on a three-building, industrial portfolio in Houston. The announcement was made through HFF, which brokered the transaction on behalf of the seller, East Group Properties.

Houston-based Fidelis Realty Partners recently completed the acquisition of a 112-acre tract at the former Camp Strake where it plans to develop a 750,000 square-foot shopping, dining and entertainment center.

Novare Group, an Atlanta-based real estate developer, recently submitted plans for the development of a new, 24-story luxury tower in Houston’s Central Business District. Named SkyHouse Main, the tower represents the company’s second multifamily project in the CBD and the third in the city of Houston.
