Hotels Hit Highest Dividend Yields

The hotel sector posted the highest one-year average dividend yield among all U.S. equity REIT sectors, according to S&P Global Market Intelligence data, outperforming the broader SNL U.S. REIT Equity Index.

As of May 31, publicly traded U.S. equity REITs had a one-year average dividend yield of 3.79 percent. The hotel sector posted the highest one-year average dividend yield among the group, at 5.39 percent, outperforming the broader SNL U.S. REIT Equity Index by 1.59 percentage points. The health care and diversified sectors followed with 5.29 percent and 4.84 percent one-year average dividend yields, respectively.

The 10 Year T Note, on the other hand, registered the lowest one-year average yield at 2.05 percent. The office sector logged the lowest dividend yield among U.S. REIT sectors at 2.78 percent.
