In recent news, Hotel Equities (HE) held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the reopening of the Courtyard by Marriott Memphis East, a recently renovated 96-room hotel.  Owned by Batra Hospitality Group Inc., the asset was purchased for roughly $4.2 million in June, 2013. In December of the same year, Hotel Equities had been appointed as manager of the asset.

“Hotel Equities has proven that they are the market leaders when it comes to third-party hospitality management,” said Jay Batra, owner of the Courtyard by Marriott Memphis East. “For me, it’s a slam dunk partnership because I can see the effort and strategic planning from a team whose members are even more engaged and anxious than I am to make this project successful. Without a doubt, Hotel Equities will be my partner in my future ventures.”

Located off I-240 and Bill Morris Parkway (I-385), the hotel was upgraded to Marriott’s latest Courtyard Generation four-room package, which includes 42 inch televisions, working desk units for business travelers and a Bistro concept in the lobby. Customers will be able to choose between king and double rooms, which offer complimentary Wi-Fi and free access to the hotel’s 24-hour business center, pool area and fitness room. As we reported, Courtyard by Marriott Memphis East offers easy access to Memphis’ tourist hotspots and fine dining as well as Class A office space such as the nearby FedEx World Headquarters and the Lenox Park office complex.

“Memphis is an exciting city for Hotel Equities’ expansion, and we have seen very strong increases across the board upon the completion of the renovation,” said Joe Reardon, vice president of Marketing and Business Development for HE. “We are excited to provide the owner with such great results and will continue to optimize opportunities and add value to this well-positioned, newly-renovated hotel. We are delighted to work with an owner who has such an entrepreneurial vision and commitment to a great hotel.”
