Hamburg, Germany—Privately owned global real estate firm Hines has secured German organic supermarket brand Alnatura as the new tenant of the North Überseequartier property in Hamburg.

Alnatura signed a lease agreement for 10 years in the Virginia building of HafenCity, one of the largest city center development projects in Europe. The 8,611-square-foot property is located at 5 Überseeallee in the center of HafenCity. The neighborhood boasts four more mixed-use properties besides Virginia, totaling approximately 581,251 square feet of rentable space—283,090 square feet of residential and 103,333 square feet of office space.

“With Alnatura, we have gained an additional strong brand as a tenant for the Überseequartier, and are coming closer to our strategic goal of strengthening retail in the long term. We very much appreciate that Alnatura is as convinced of the great development potential of the new city quarter in Hamburg as we are,” Christoph Reschke, senior managing director at Hines Immobilien GmbH, said in prepared remarks.

Hines Immobilien GmbH has purchased and developed 1.6 million square meters (roughly 17.2 million square feet) of space, including high-profile properties since the opening of Hines’ German office.
