‘Hello, Goodbye’ to Iconic Liverpool Hotel

The world’s only Beatles-inspired hotel has landed itself a new owner.

The fate of the Hard Days Night hotel in Liverpool is now in the hands of international hotel chain Millennium & Copthorne Hotels plc. The company acquired the four-star property from owner Tony Criss for £13.8 million ($21.6 million) in cash, the Liverpool Echo reported. The 110-key hotel had been marketed by CBRE, according to the newspaper.

The boutique hotel opened in 2008 on N. John St., in Liverpool’s now-popular Cavern Quarter. Housed in the Grade II-listed Central Buildings, which was completed in 1884, the hotel is located nearby the iconic Cavern Club, where The Beatles performed more than 290 times.

“Having been crowned Capital of Culture in 2008, the city is twinned culturally and economically with Shanghai and is home to the world famous Liverpool Football Club,” said Aloysius Lee, CEO of Millennium Hotels and Resorts in a prepared statement. “The city continues to maintain its prominent stance by investing in an array of forward-thinking regeneration projects, while firmly retaining its Beatles legacy.”

The Hard Days Night hotel has received the ‘TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence’ for four consecutive years, and features exclusive artwork by famous Beatles artists such as Sir Peter Blake and Klaus Voorman. The unique hotel also features the McCartney and Lennon suites, a variety of dining options, as well as ample meeting and event space.
