Boies, Schiller & Flexner LLP has recently announced that it has signed a lease for space in the office building at 1401 New York Ave., N.W. The move is part of the company’s growth strategy, which recently saw the addition of several attorneys from senior positions in the White House and Capitol Hill to its already established roster of veteran trial lawyers. It will also bring the law firm’s D.C. operations “directly into the center of government and business.”

Boies, Schiller & Flexner will move its 57 lawyers from its current location at 5301 Wisconsin Ave., N.W., where it has been since it first arrived in D.C. in 1997, to the 10th and 11th floors of 1401 New York Ave. The law firm will occupy 37,000 square feet, which, according to Partner Michael Brille, will have “an open and airy feel, with a lot of natural light and a layout that will bring us closer together in a more collaborative environment.”

Minshall Stewart owns the 12-story office building. The property is currently undergoing a transformation designed by architect J.P. Spickler and expected to be completed by 2016. It will deliver a LEED Gold-certified building with a class curtain façade and 3,300 square feet of outdoor space with views of the White House, located just half a block away.

“We couldn’t be happier to welcome Boies, Schiller & Flexner to our most recent trophy-quality renovation project at 1401 New York Ave. as the building’s anchor tenant,” John Stewart, president of Minshall Stewart, said in a prepared statement. The law firm intends to move into its new space in the third quarter of 2016.
