The next recession is still 24 months away, according to Bob Bach, director of research – Americas for Newmark Grubb Knight Frank. the economy is bolstered by consumer spending and the housing market, although productivity is low and sublease inventory is on the rise, particularly in energy markets like Houston and Salt Lake City.
Bach spoke on the Economic Symposium at the National Association of Real Estate Editors’ 50th annual Real Estate Journalism Conference in June. The panel, moderated by CPE and MHN Editorial Director Suzann Silverman, also included Greg Willett, chief economist for RealPage Inc., and Juliet Potter, vice president of the Southeast region & research director for JLL.
