Choice Hotels International Inc. and Concord Hospitality announced last week the opening of the Cambria Hotel & Suites Washington, D.C. Convention Center in the District’s historic Shaw neighborhood. It is the first property to open under the Cambria Hotels & Suites brand in the city.

The hotel is located 899 O St., N.W., one block from the Washington Convention Center. It features 182 suites and more than 1,200 square feet of state-of-the-art meeting and conference space, equipped with high-tech audio and visual equipment. The suites are 20 percent larger than standard hotel rooms and offer numerous amenities, such as LCD TVs, separate living, working and sleeping space, or ergonomic chairs. Hotel amenities include an open lobby filled with local artwork, a rooftop pool, free WiFi, a contemporary bistro, a barista bar, an on-site business center and free airport transportation.

“From the art and the architecture to the cuisine and the staff, this Cambria embodies characteristics of Washington, D.C., and more specifically, of the Shaw neighborhood,” said Mark Laport, president & CEO of Concord Hospitality, in a statement for the press. “We look forward to bringing a personalized, memorable experience to our guests and working with Choice Hotels.”

“Cambria Hotels & Suites continues to experience tremendous growth with a focus on top-tier, urban markets.  This is the first Cambria Hotels & Suites in the nation’s capital, and we are thrilled to open in such a lively and historic city, where both business and leisure travel are booming,” said Michael Murphy, senior vice president of upscale brands for Choice Hotels International. The Cambria Hotel & Suites Washington, D.C. Convention Center is also the first Cambria Hotels & Suites property to achieve LEED certification and the first to be part of a mixed-use development.

“Concord Hospitality brings nearly 30 years of hospitality experience, making them a phenomenal development partner for Choice. We know they will deliver the Cambria experience at its best – stylish, modern comfort at a great value,” Murphy added.
