Coworking Franchise Eyes Expanded Footprint

The moves are fueled by the shift toward flexible office arrangements and small business growth.

Driven by strong demand for coworking spaces, Colorado-based Office Evolution announced it is opening new locations in Michigan and Florida while franchisees in the Chicago and San Antonio, Texas, areas are increasing capacity at their locations.

Jason Anderson, president of Office Evolution, the largest provider of locally owned and operated flexible workspaces in the U.S., said in a prepared statement the company is looking to double the brand’s footprint in the next three years. Anderson said the demand for new Office Evolution coworking locations parallels the growth of the small business industry.

The current network includes more than 70 locally operated business centers in 25 states. The coworking facilities offer flexible terms and serve as innovation hubs for members. The brand has been growing significantly in the past two years as businesses of all sizes shift toward flexible workspaces as an alternative to working from home or in fixed office space. The company was founded in 2003 and began franchising in 2012.

Boosting offerings

The newest Office Evolution opened earlier this month at 801 W. Big Beaver Road in Troy, Mich., with spouses Brandon and Colleen Budde as the franchisees. Located in downtown Troy, the 13,000-square-foot business center includes three conference rooms, 64 individual office spaces and a podcast suite.

New locations are also planned to open in early 2023 in Boca Raton, Fla., and Jacksonville, Fla.

Two Office Evolution business centers are increasing their space and offerings in the new year. The San Antonio location is expanding its capacity by 40 percent and adding 17 new individual offices, 10 micro-offices, a new lounge space and kitchen area. The Chicago location is adding 39 individual offices and a larger conference room that and accommodate up to 30 people. It is also refurbishing amenities at the site.

Office Evolution is also part of the United Franchise Group Coworks division, which provides the largest privately-owned and affiliated coworking network of flexible office space franchises in the world. All members have access to the network when they travel.
