Coldwell Banker Commercial Affiliates LLC is experiencing some shifting of roles with regard to its top positions.

On Thursday, the company announced that Fred Schmidt has been promoted to president and chief operating officer.

Schmidt steps into the shoes of Rick Davidson, who since May 2006 has led the Coldwell Banker Commercial brand and has now been appointed president and chief executive officer of Century 21 Real Estate LLC. Both franchises fall under the flag of Realogy Corporation, a global provider of real estate and relocation services.

“In Fred Schmidt, we have a proven commercial real estate professional to lead the Coldwell Banker Commercial organization,” Realogy Franchise Group president and chief executive officer Alex Perriello said in a statement. “Fred has a demonstrated record of success in building relationships with and developing significant new business opportunities on behalf of our commercial broker network.”

Schmidt joined Coldwell Banker in 2003, serving as vice president of business development. Since late 2008, he has worked as senior vice president of the Realogy Global Client Solutions group, leading development initiatives and overseeing specialty groups.

For his part, Davidson replaces Tom Kunz, who has led Century 21 since June 2004.

“Rick brings a unique mix of leadership experience from the residential and commercial real estate industries along with a strategic focus on growth,” Perriello said in a separate statement. “He is a proven leader.”

Realogy initially recruited Davidson from his position as owner of a Coldwell Banker Commercial Firm in the Washington, D.C. area. He most recently served as chief operating officer of Coldwell Banker Real Estate LLC as well as president and chief operating officer of Coldwell Banker Commercial Affiliates.
