Designed with an emphasis on sustainability, the hotel is part of a larger Clarion expansion across Scandinavia. Nordic Choice developed and owns the asset.

Clarion Hotel The Hub

Choice Hotels International Inc. has opened the largest property in its portfolio, the 810-key Clarion Hotel The Hub in Oslo, Norway. The asset is one of the 20 Clarion-branded hotels to open in Scandinavia and is owned by Nordic Choice, which develops, markets and supports Choice’s brands in its territories. Recently, Fabege has announced it has selected Skanska to build a $51 million Comfort Hotel in Solna, Sweden, which will be part of the Nordic Choice Hotels chain.

Located at 3 Biskop Gunnerusgate, the hotel includes an in-house bakery and patisserie, two bars, a Nordic fusion restaurant, a pool, a 24-hour business center and a spa. The property was developed with an emphasis on sustainability, with the hotel being the first in the Nordic region to have smart elevators. Also, the rooftop includes a roughly 2,400-square-foot meadow, dubbed GrowHub. The vegetables, herbs and edible flowers grown there will be incorporated in the dishes served at the hotel restaurant.

The hotel collaborated with art curator Sune Nordgren to source artwork from Hamish Fulton, Eric & Heater ChanSchatz and Anne Karin Furunes, which is displayed on the walls and ceilings of the building. It also entered into an agreement with Munch Museum to collaborate on future art exhibitions and events. The hotel worked with Oslo Public Library (Deichmanske Folkebibliotek) to maintain a library in the building’s lobby and will feature local authors.
