It’s official. One of Charlotte’s hottest future addresses is now even more desirable. The McDevitt Agency, acting as official broker of SKYE’s condominium component, has announced the identity of the much-expected rooftop restaurant: Fahrenheit, the Cleveland-based contemporary American cuisine success story. Helmed by celebrity chef Rocco Whalen, the restaurant will occupy 9,000 square feet of rooftop space offering panoramic views of Charlotte’s skyline. The locale is expected to open in September 2013 and will offer both indoor and outdoor dining as well as a private dining area. A rectangle sky bar will offer 360 degree views of Charlotte’s skyline. There will be seating for 260.

The original Fahrenheit opened in 2002 in Cleveland’s historic Tremont neighborhood. It has expanded over the years and, 11 years later, it is still a success story. The reputation of both the restaurant and the chef prompted SKYE’s s developers to invite Rocco to create Charlotte’s first and only open-air restaurant and bar, set to open on SKYE’s 20th floor.

As previously reported, the 20-story SKYE is a mixed-use development in Uptown Charlotte, one of the most desirable parts of the city. Formerly known as The Park, the halted condo project was taken over by current owners and developers Small Brothers Charlotte LLC in 2009 at the steeply discounted price of $4.5 million and turned into a mixed-use condo, retail and hotel project. A 172-key Hyatt Place is set to open in the third quarter of 2013, when the first of 76 condo units will be delivered. Luxury amenities, such as 24-hour concierge service, a fitness center, rooftop pool and sundeck, green roof, entertainment room and many more will abound at SKYE, where the ground floor will be taken up by high-end retail. According to The McDevitt Agency, as of June 14 SKYE is 40 percent sold.
