Berkadia has announced the appointment of Kathleen Cohen as director of the company’s Atlanta office. In her new position, she will be responsible for continuing the expansion of Berkadia’s HUD financing presence as the firm grows its footprint in the South. Additionally, she will report to the company’s Head of Housing and Urban Development & Regional Manager Steve Ervin as well as Atlanta Office Leader Richard Levine.

Cohen brings more than nine years of mortgage banking experience to the Atlanta office, having previously worked six years with Prudential Mortgage Capital Co. where she originated FHA, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac loans and supported the firm’s affordable housing platform. She was also part of Prudential’s Southeast Origination Team, where she helped the department earn the highest sales volume in 2013 and the highest number of new FHA originations in the company in 2012. Prior to joining Prudential in 2010, she served as an analyst at Marcus & Millichap for a multifamily brokerage team. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Georgia State University in 2008.

As we continue to strengthen our presence in the Southeast, Kathleen’s extensive mortgage banking experience will add immediate value to Berkadia’s market leading HUD platform,” Ervin said in prepared remarks.
