Baptist Memorial Health Care Corp. Expands in the Greater Memphis Area

Baptist Memorial Health Care Corp. continues with its expansion. A $14.7 million permit application was recently filed by Duke Realty Corp. for a new Baptist Memorial rehabilitation facility, reports The Memphis Daily News.

The new rehab facility, to be located at 1240 Germantown Road, will replace Baptist Rehabilitation-Germantown, the current rehab facility located on Exeter Road. The 60,000-square-foot medical facility will offer 49 rehabilitation hospital beds. It will not be the only recent new construction for Baptist.

Baptist Memorial Hospital Union County broke ground in mid-August on a new $12 million emergency department. The facility will be located on the Baptist Memorial Hospital Union County campus behind the hospital, connected to the radiology department. The new emergency room will feature 22 exam rooms, two trauma rooms and two triage rooms. Set to finish in August 2014, the new facility will replace the current one, which provides only seven exam rooms.

Baptist Memorial Hospital Union County has been updating its medical facilities recently. The new ER is the biggest construction project in the area since August 2008, when it renovated its Women’s Center, which now features 10 private labor, delivery and recovery rooms, a 28-bed post-partum unit, a well-baby nursery and a special needs nursery. Baptist Memorial Hospital Union County features 153 beds.

Baptist Memorial Health Care started work on another emergency room, recently breaking ground on a pediatric ER department at Baptist Memorial Hospital for Women in Memphis. The new ER is set to open in spring 2015. Located next to Baptist Memorial Hospital Memphis, the women’s hospital had opened in 2001 and features 140 beds.
