Baltimore is looking to grow and create more housing options for its residents.
According to the Baltimore Business Journal, the city’s design panel has approved the construction of a new apartment complex proposed by Houston-based developer Hanover Co.
Called Hanover Cross Street, the project will be the first building to go up at Caves Valley Partners’ $250 million Stadium Square, a major redevelopment planned for three blocks in South Baltimore.
Designed by architectural firm Design Collective, Hanover Cross Street will feature 295 apartments, a parking garage with 480 spaces and 8,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space. It will be bounded by Race and Leadenhall streets, and Cross and West streets.
The cost of the project was not revealed. Adam Harbin, a development partner at Hanover Co., told the Baltimore Business Journal that his company hopes to start work on the site in the first quarter of 2016. Hanover Cross Street is expected to open within two years.
