Bluerock, Solutia in $42M St. Louis Office Sale-Leaseback
Bluerock Real Estate L.L.C. has purchased for $42.75 million a 260,000-square-foot office building belonging to chemical manufacturer Solutia in Town and Country, Mo., outside St. Louis. Solutia, whose headquarters is in St. Louis, will continue to occupy 120,000 square feet in the building under a 10-year renewable lease with Bluerock. The chemical company and its real estate advisor, Colliers Turley Martin Tucker, had begun marketing the building, at 575 Maryville Centre Drive, earlier this year. URS Corp. has won a major new task order under a previously awarded contract to provide engineering and construction services at bases worldwide for the Air Force Center for Environmental Excellence, under the Heavy Engineering, Repair and Construction contract. Under the terms of this particular task order, URS will design and build two medical instructional facilities at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio. Plans have been unveiled for the development of PNC Place, a 365,000-square-foot office building just blocks from the White House, which the builder says will be Washington, D.C.’s greenest office.The PNC Financial Services Group Inc. and Vornado/Charles E. The United States Sugar Corp. is selling 187,000 acres to Florida for $1.75 billion, Governor Charlie Crist announced yesterday. The South Florida water management district’s proposal aims to restore the agricultural land in order to help preserve the Everglades. The proposal covers almost 300 square miles across four South Florida counties, and would include all of U.S. Sugars property south of Lake Okeechobee, including its cane fields, mill and railroad line. Hilton Hotels Corp. has entered into an agreement with Monit Investments, paving the way for the development of the Waldorf=Astoria Hotel & Residences Montreal. The project will cost $200 million to complete. Hilton Hotels Corp. plans to vastly increase its presence in Asia over the next 10 years with the addition of 300 more hotels to its existing portfolio of 47 properties there. Starwood to Open Third Maui Resort
Starwood Vacation Ownership has unveiled plans to develop a third Hawaiian vacation ownership resort in Maui. SVO, a division of the hospitality management firm Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, will develop the property in Kā‘anapali North Beach, which is located near Lahaina on West Maui. The resort is expected to have 390 luxury villas with one to three bedrooms per unit. The new vacation ownership resort will join SVO’s two other resorts in Maui and one in Kaua’i.
