Last night’s hubbub at the White House over the Wall Street bailout seems to have quieted down somewhat today, with various dissatisfied parties returning to negotiations, but still nothing has been settled. Leaders of both parties have announced that they will keep Congress in session until some kind of deal is worked out. Deadline Looming for Starrett City Bids

Judgment Day is one step closer for the residents of Brooklyn’s Starrett City and its suitors. Sept. 25 marks the deadline to submit bids to acquire the 34-year-old, almost 6,000-unit multi-family property–the nation’s largest federally subsidized housing complex. Sources anticipate that the winning bidder will be announced a few weeks after the bidding deadline. Thursday will represent the latest chapter in Starrett City’s acquisition saga. Anderson Forecast: No Recession Yet, but Worries on the Horizon

The UCLA Anderson forecast has released a statement that claims that the United States economy is not technically in a recession. Citing data from the second quarter of 2008 that showed the gross domestic product had increased by 3.3 percent, the forecast states that the nation is not in a recession by the definition set forth by the National Bureau of Economic Research, but is quick to realize that the economy is “stalled.” The forecast predicts that third quarter GDP growth will be 1 percent in the third quarter followed by a fourth quarter GDP growth of essentially zero. St. Joe Co. Secures $100M Credit Line

After posting a $21 million net loss for the second quarter, replacing its retiring CEO and chairman and elimination the position of executive vice president and chief strategy officer, The St. Joe Company entered into a new credit facility with an aggregate principal amount of $100 million with an option to increase the facility to $200 million through syndication with Branch Banking and Trust Company (BB&T). The new secured facility matures on Sept. 19, 2011. At the time of the announcement, Jacksonville, Fla.,-based St. Joe had not drawn any funds on the facility. AMB Leases 157,000 SF at Madrid Airport

AMB Property Corp. has announced it has leased more than 157,000 square feet  of a development immediately adjacent to Madrid’s Barajas International Airport. The airport is one of Europe’s top ten cargo airports. The development has been leased to three customers. One of them is Leche Pascual, a manufacturer of dairy products, food and beverages. Office Operating Income, Costs Relatively Unchanged: IREM  Report

Total collections for suburban office complexes nationwide in 2007 dipped less than 1 percent from 2006 levels to $19.31 per square foot of net rentable area, whereas those for downtown properties increased 3.1 percent to $19.85 per square foot.
