For the week ending April 5, initial unemployment claims came in at 300,000, a sharp decrease of 32,000 from the previous week’s revised level. Import prices were up 0.6 percent in March, after a 0.9 percent increase in February.

The International Monetary Fund said that the risk of another global recession isn’t as high now as it has been in recent years. There were 4.2 million job openings on the last business day of February, up from 3.9 million on the last day of January. And the Small Business Optimism Index rose 2 points in March to 93.4.
