Resmark and Timberlake Homes Constructing Creekstone Village Townhome Community in Anne Arundel County
A new, single-family townhome community is coming to Anne Arundel County. Resmark Land and Housing, a division of The Los Angeles-based Resmark Companies, and Timberlake Homes announced at the end of January that construction is underway on Creekstone Village in Pasadena. The project is expected to be completed in 36 months.
Coastal Equities Buys Newport News Retail Center from Harbor Group for $12.9M
A recently renovated shopping center in Hampton Roads has changed hands at the end of January. The Bethesda, Md.-based Greysteel Company has arranged the sale of the Newport Crossing Shopping Center to Coastal Equities Real Estate, a real estate company specializing in investment, development, syndication opportunities and management of retail shopping centers.
Blue Ocean Realty Buys 720-Unit Millbrook Park Apartments in Pikesville
720 apartments. 73 buildings. 40 acres of land. Put them all together and you get the Millbrook Park Apartments in Pikesville. Blue Ocean Realty, one of the largest owner-managed investment companies in the Baltimore metropolitan area, recently purchased this massive complex.
Buffalo Lodging Associates to Manage Hilton Garden Inn Akron
The Hilton Garden Inn Akron is scheduled to open this fall. The hotel is currently under development on three acres of land, on the former Goodyear world headquarters campus, at the corner of East Market Street and Kelly Avenue. It will be the first hotel constructed in Akron since 1980 and it will be managed by Buffalo Lodging Associates, LLC.
$500M Middletown Energy Center to Be Top Gas Power Plant
The city of Middletown, in Butler County, will be home to one of the most efficient natural gas-fired power plants in the United States. St. Augustine, Fla.-based NTE Energy announced last week its plans to develop, own and operate the power plant, which is expected to provide numerous benefits to the city, county and state economies. The massive project represents an investment of over $500 million.
Lerner Starts Vertical Construction of State-of-the-Art Office Tower in Tysons Corner
Lerner Enterprises announced last week it started construction on 1775 Tysons Boulevard, an 18-story state-of-the-art office tower in Tysons Corner. The project is expected to be completed in late 2015. It will be the fifth premier office tower within The Corporate Office Centre at Tysons II master planned development.
OSU Eyes 2 Historic Buildings for $53M Makeover as Analytics Centers
Good news for Ohio State University. The Ohio Higher Education Funding Commission recently announced the 2015-16 capital funding recommendations for the state’s public colleges and universities. The proposal includes funds for the renovation of two iconic Ohio State buildings, Oxley and Pomerene Halls, as well as other building and facility repair and maintenance projects.
Two More Hotels Planned for Cleveland Area
2013 was a good year for hotel construction in the Greater Cleveland area, as developers started work on an important number of projects expected to deliver hundreds of new rooms to the region in the near future. And it seems that this hotel construction boom will continue into 2014. Work will soon start on two more projects in the metro area, one in downtown Cleveland, the other in Avon.
Port Authority Receives $400,000 Grant from Duke Energy to Revitalize Cincinnati Neighborhoods
Duke Energy, the largest electric power holding company in the United States, has recently awarded a $400,000 grant to the Port of Greater Cincinnati Development Authority, to help redevelop the Bond Hill, Roselawn and Queensgate areas. The money will be used to create development-ready sites that will ultimately bring new investment from industrial and logistics companies, as well as new life to the Cincinnati neighborhoods.
Two More D.C.-Area Office Properties Change Hands
Office properties in the Washington, D.C. area continue to attract interest from investors. Last week, I wrote about the acquisition of the Thurman Arnold Building by a MetLife Inc. and Norges Bank Investment Management joint venture, in the first major commercial real estate sale of the year. Two more office buildings have since then changed hands.
