Alpha Install, a company that manages the installation of communications and technology equipment on vehicle fleets and satellite locations, is planning to move and expand its headquarters in Pittsboro. According to the CityBizList, the company chose a property located on Highway 15-501 at 697 Hillsboro Street that features about four acres of paved parking spaces, 17,500 square feet of industrial space and 6,500 square feet of office space. Alpha Install is planning to relocate the equipment and personnel after the renovation of the building.

Currently headquartered in Chapel Hill, Alpha Install has been searching for a new HQ since 2009. The team selected the Pittsboro location because of Randolph Voller’s dedication to improve Pittsboro’s infrastructure.

Keith McRae, Alpha Install’s CEO, said the organization is in need of a large industrial building that also includes extensive office space. Due to the property’s proximity to a populated area and the region’s economic vitality, they ultimately decided on choosing Pittsboro for the new headquarters. In addition, Alpha Install will soon increase several departments and will hire specialists for strategic account development, for project management and for installations.

In regional news, CityBizList reports that Brixmor has just signed a lease with the outdoor equipment retailer, REI. The retailer will move into the former Borders location in Cary at Devonshire Place, and it will occupy about 27,000 square feet. Founded in Seattle in 1938, Recreational Equipment Inc. has been featured by Fortune magazine as one of the “100 Best Companies to Work For.” The company was also named by the United States Environmental Protection Agency as one of the top ten retailers that utilizes clean electricity.
