Following an extensive six-month renovation, Shangri-La’s iconic Le Touessrok Resort & Spa in Mauritius will reopen its doors to guests on Nov. 1.

Pop-up events will be held in London, Paris and Dubai in late September and early October to showcase the resort’s offerings and provide a taste of paradise with Mauritian musicians, artists and flavors.

Located on the east coast of Mauritius in the stunning Trou d’Eau Douce Bay, the 200-key property offers a mix of guestrooms, suites and villas in an intimate ambiance, which has the feel of a Mediterranean-style village.

The resort entails talcum-white sand beaches, and the Ilot Mangénie, a secluded private island that features more than two miles (3.5 kilometers) of pristine beach, a stylish beach club and on-island butlers.

Amenities include two pools, an extensive program for aquatic and land-based activities, a T-Club for children aged between 4-11 and an Active T-Club for those 12-17 years old. There are also five dining and bar concepts, such as Safran, the resort’s acclaimed Indian restaurant; the Republik Beach Club & Grill, which features Mediterranean cuisine, barbecue specialties and a lively bohemian beach lounge; and Sega, a rum and Tiki bar where exciting local talents play reggae, seggae, jazz and blues. Furthermore, golfers here have access to the 18-hole, par 72 championship golf course designed by Bernhard Langer that is located a few minutes away by boat on Ile aux Cerfs.

“Our vision is to create a private hideaway that can be our guests’ own personal paradise,” Gabriele Lombardo, general manager of Shangri-La’s Le Touessrok Resort & Spa, said in a prepared statement. “In an always-on world, our senses are constantly barraged. We want to give guests space for imagination and serendipitous discovery.”

Hong Kong-based Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts currently owns and/or manages more than 90 hotels under the Shangri-La brand with a room inventory of over 38,000. Over four decades of activity the group has established its brand hallmark of ‘hospitality from the heart’. Upcoming projects currently included in the company’s development pipeline are set to rise in Mainland China, Cambodia, Hong Kong, India, Myanmar, Philippines, Qatar and Sri Lanka.
