E.ON Builds 5th Texas Coastal Renewable Project
Located in Kenedy County, the 201-megawatt Stella Windfarm will produce enough energy to power more than 60,000 households.

E.ON has started developing Stella Windfarm, a 201-megawatt project located in Kenedy County, Texas. Stella marks the company’s 23rd wind farm in North America.
The wind facility is located in the ERCOT (Electric Reliability Council of Texas) south market and is powered by 67 3.0-megawatt turbines supplied by Nordex Group. Stella Windfarm is set to generate sufficient electricity to power more than 60,000 homes and is expected to begin commercial operation by the end of 2018.
“This project was a direct result of the federal policies to encourage growth in the renewable sector and confirms the continued attractiveness of the U.S. wind market. When completed, Stella will add to our coastal wind portfolio with now more than one gigawatt in operation,” Silvia Ortin, North America CEO of E.ON, said in a prepared statement.
E.ON’s portfolio of renewable energy facilities encompasses more than 3,600 megawatts generated by wind, solar and storage projects. In addition, the company handles management responsibilities for several other projects, including four of Novatus’ wind farms in Texas, Maine and Washington State.
