Crow Holdings Industrial has tapped Matt Kurucz to serve as the company’s new managing director, in charge with opening and leading a new office in Chicago. He brings a total of 14 years of industrial real estate development experience to the team.

Prior to his new role at Crow Holdings, Kurucz served as the director of real estate development for The Opus Group’s Chicago office, a position he held for three and a half years. During this time, he oversaw the development and leasing of almost 4 million square feet of industrial space. Before joining Opus, Kurucz worked for World Class Capital Group of Austin, Texas. His career also includes stints with IDI Logistics, First Industrial Realty Trust and Serious Energy.

“We have long-aspired to return to the Chicago market because of its prominence as a strategic, national distribution hub,” said Ken Valach, CEO of Crow Holdings, in a prepared statement. “Matt shares this passion for the region and brings to our organization strong market acumen, deep experience and a broad industry network. The Crow family has deep roots in the industrial development business and building our presence in Chicago is an important next step.”

As the company plans to expand its presence in Chicago, its development work continues in other major industrial markets nationwide. According to Yardi Matrix, Crow Holdings broke ground on two new cross-dock industrial facilities outside of Dallas in October last year, though construction work was initially planned to start sooner.
