London—Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group’s European flagship property, the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park in London, will undergo extensive renovations. Efforts will be spearheaded by interior designer Joyce Wang, who will oversee the conceptual design of the renovation, and hospitality designer Adam Tihany, who will head up the design of the spa and leisure facilities.

Wang’s inspiration for the renovations comes from the hotel’s park-side location and from the 1920s, the Golden Age of travel, mixed with the existing building’s royal heritage. The spa at the hotel was recently modernized to include eight treatment rooms, a Heat and Water oasis, zen color therapy relaxation area, a stainless-steel heated swimming pool and a fully-equipped fitness center. Tihany will design the spaces that will be expanded to include couples treatment areas and exclusive wellness concepts.

The refurbishing process will include overhauling all 181 guestrooms and suites, as well as light renovations to the meeting facilities, two restaurants and ballroom. The lobby, entrance and reception areas will also be updated and the facade will be given a touch-up. The hotel will remain open during the duration of construction work.
