MCSS Buys Prime Location for Upcoming Project in Miami-Dade
Miami City Self Storage is one step closer to its goal of developing 20 self-storage projects in South Florida with its latest acquisition in the rapidly-growing city of Doral, Fla.

Doral, Fla.—Miami City Self Storage LLC (MCSS) purchased its ninth development site, a property located near the northeast corner of the intersection of the Palmetto Expressway & NW 36th Street, the gateway to the City of Doral in Miami-Dade County, Fla.
The upcoming self-storage development will be managed by CubeSmart and will offer approximately 77,600 net rentable square feet with 925 climate-controlled storage units. The new facility, which will be visible to 200,000 cars per day, will bring the South Florida-based developer closer to its goal of developing 20 urban infill self-storage projects within densely populated locations in South Florida.
“We are continuing on our quest to acquire the best sites in South Florida and select strategic markets,” Jay Massirman, managing director at MCSS, said in prepared remarks.
In addition to the new West Airport self-storage project, MCSS is developing several locations throughout the tri-county area, including those near SoLēMia, Coconut Grove, City of Miami, Sweetwater, Doral, Pembroke Pines, Pembroke Park, Davie and Fort Lauderdale and is active in several areas of Broward and Palm Beach County.
The growing self-storage industry generated $24 billion in revenues in 2013, according to the Self-Storage Association, and is expected to reach $30 billion in revenues by 2019, according to IBISWorld. The market is made up of several large companies, plus 30,000 single-facility entrepreneurs.
Miami City Self Storage LLC is a joint venture between real estate industry veterans Jay Massirman, Stephen Garchik, Steve McBride and consultant David Blum.
