The Christ Hospital will hold an open house this weekend to mark the opening of its new Joint & Spine Center, located on the hospital’s main campus in Mt. Ashburn.

The Joint & Spine Center is the first and only center of its kind in Greater Cincinnati. Christ Hospital developed it as the centerpiece of a $280 million campus expansion. The facility provides orthopedic and spine care, sports medicine, rehabilitation, clinical research, and education. It features 87 private patient rooms, gathering spaces and lounges for visitors, outdoor spaces and rooftop gardens, 12 operating rooms, advanced rehab facilities, office space and conference and training facilities.

The six-story, 350,000-square-foot building was designed by Chicago-based Skidmore, Owings and Merrill. It was built by Messer Construction, with Fosdick & Hilmer serving as engineer.

About 240 people will work at the facility, which is scheduled to receive its first patients in September.
