Lake Nona Breaks Ground on Publix-Anchored Shopping Center

A new shopping center is in store for Lake Nona, as work has started on the 5.6 million Lake Nona Plaza. Centrally located south of the SR 417 interchange on Narcoossee Road—across the street from Lake Nona Middle School and less than a mile away from Lake Nona High School and Valencia College’s new campus—the new shopping center will be anchored by a Publix Super Market.

The 54,000-square foot Publix at Lake Nona Plaza will feature a full service bakery, floral shop, deli, fresh seafood department and Publix Pharmacy, in addition to its traditional full-service grocery, meat, produce, dairy, and frozen food departments. The Lake Nona Plaza Publix is projected to open by the end of 2012. The remaining 25,000 square feet will accommodate other retail shops and restaurants.

The shopping center will be the closest grocery-anchored shopping center to Lake Nona Medical City, and it will serve the thousands of new employees at the health and life sciences cluster. The shopping center will also serve Lake Nona’s newest residential community, Laureate Park.

The opportunities for commercial development at Lake Nona are impressive, with millions of square feet of commercial space available for businesses, shops, restaurants, medical offices and more. Lake Nona will be home to a world-class corporate park that will offer a wide variety of for-lease and build-to-suit options. With its Lake Nona Town Center, an upscale open-air mall planned just off Lake Nona Blvd., the community is also destined to become a premiere shopping destination for the region.

Lake Nona is a 7,000-acre master planned community within the city limits of Orlando developed by Lake Nona Property Holdings and owned by private investment company Tavistock Group.
