WORK Lakes Region — a community-driven coworking space — announced that it had joined the tenant list of 51 Elm St., a mixed-use development in the Lakeport neighborhood of Laconia, N.H. The coworking space is set to open this fall and will include a bookable conference room, 13 dedicated private offices and approximately 10 hot desks rentable for as short as an hour.

The new coworking office aims to bring the trend to the Laconia, N.H., area, as coworking operators have mostly gravitated toward southern New Hampshire. Since the pandemic, the Lakes Region has experienced an influx of both permanent and seasonal residents working remotely or hybrid. For this reason, Jodie Gallant, the creator of WORK Lakes Region, wanted to offer remote workers and solopreneurs in the area access to flexible office space and amenities; a professional space for meetings; ample networking; and high-speed internet.

“We can see that there’s more people living [here] year-round and commuting and working from a hybrid home-office space, and I think that there’s also a huge amount of startup businesses and entrepreneurs that are looking for collaboration and a place to gather,” Gallant said, highlighting the advantages of coworking compared to working from home. “They don’t necessarily want to work at camp when everyone’s having fun outside and they’re sitting at the table at their computer.”

WORK Lakes Region is among the first tenants announced for 51 Elm St., a mixed-use development standing on the site of a former apartment building and one of real estate developer Scott Everett’s several projects in the Lakeport area. The property will include commercial and retail space with floor-to-ceiling luxury windows and access to more than 15,000 passersby daily. What’s more, the property will also include 20 luxury apartments (which the developer can also sell as condominiums) with dedicated parking in an adjacent covered parking garage, as well as a private gym and sky deck. Residents can also enjoy the two lakes nearby, as well as several recreation trails and entertainment venues.
