Coworking operator Workbar continues to expand its portfolio in the greater Boston region with two new locations: The new Workbar space in North Quincy is now open and located at 100 Hancock St., while the upcoming site in Framingham is located at 111 Speen St. With these two new locations, Workbar will claim 11 sites in the greater Boston region. North Quincy opened on May 1, while Framingham is expected to open on August 1.

The coworking space in Quincy is on the third floor of a 10-story, class A structure owned by Synergy Investments. In fact, Workbar recently teamed up with the real estate investment firm to launch Synergy Suites by Workbar, an initiative that has led the coworking operator to take over 11 of the landlord’s spec suites located across downtown Boston.

Workbar formed in 2009 with its first coworking space in downtown Boston before later expanding into the wider region in 2015. Since Sarah Travers was named CEO in 2018, the firm has prioritized suburban expansion. Outside of its three urban locations in Boston’s center, Workbar will have eight more spaces located in the wider area once Framingham opens.

“As one of the fastest-growing and most diverse cities in Massachusetts, we believe Framingham is the perfect choice for Workbar’s 11th location,” Travers said. “By bringing the office to employees and eliminating lengthy commutes, this new Framingham location is the latest example of Workbar’s commitment to suburban expansion.”

In Framingham, Workbar will open in a building purchased for $13 million by Paradigm Properties and North Colony Asset Management back in March 2022. Supported by long-term leases signed by Workbar and the likes of Ai3 Architects, a $5 million refurbishment project is currently underway and includes a new envelope added to the building. Meanwhile, the coworking space itself will occupy 21,000 square feet on the second floor and is set to include a fully fitted podcast studio and telepresence room.

“These state-of-the-art business amenities will provide companies with highly improved flexibility and will completely transform the ways in which they produce content and work as a whole,” Travers said.
