A partnership between Certares Real Estate Management\u00a0and Clearview Hotel Capital has purchased Hyatt Regency Savannah, a 351-key full-service hotel in Savannah, Ga. Ashford Hospitality Trust sold the property, according to Chatham County public records.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the only Hyatt-branded hotel in the city and the fifth in the state. The new ownership plans to renovate guestrooms and other common areas intended to strengthen the property’s competitive position. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The transaction represents Certares\u2019 17th hotel investment since the company launched its real estate platform in 2021. To date, its portfolio includes more than 4,000 hotel keys in primary travel destinations spread across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Savannah’s only Hyatt hotel<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Hyatt Regency Savannah\u00a0is at 2 W. Bay St. within the Historic District, close to the Savannah City Market. The city\u2019s international airport is 10 miles away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Completed in 1981, the seven-story hotel comprises 351 guestrooms including 32 suites, more than 40,000 square feet of meeting and event space, dining options and a parking garage with more than 300 spaces. In 2015, the riverfront property went through a comprehensive improvement program. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Highland Hospitality Group had purchased it for $50 million in 2004, according to Chatham County records. In 2011, Ashford Hospitality Trust took over the company and its hospitality portfolio in a $1.3 billion deal, according to Hotels Magazine<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Georgia’s hotel market on the rise<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Georgia’s hospitality industry ended the first quarter of 2026 with more balanced operating fundamentals following last year’s demand surge, according to a recent report by Colliers<\/a>. Occupancy and average daily rates softened but investor interest remained strong, supported by an active pipeline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Savannah was Georgia’s most active metro for hotel development in Q1, leading the state with more than 2,000 guestrooms under construction. At the same time, the average daily rates increased 0.8 percent in the metro as more luxury and upscale properties entered the market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the upcoming additions is the 168-key luxury Ritz-Carlton hotel. TMGOC Ventures obtained a $104.5 million construction loan<\/a>\u00a0for the project that involves the redevelopment of two office buildings, including the 1911-built Savannah Skyscraper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking ahead, the state’s hospitality sector is poised to receive another boost from the 2026 FIFA World Cup<\/a>. Atlanta is expected to lead all host cities as industry surveys indicate a strong booking momentum, supported by team operations and international travel demand.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
