One panel titled \u201cHow to Network, Influence and Elevate your CRE Career\u201d quickly delved into the topic of why developing a personal bond with coworkers and clients is becoming even more important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tyler Courson, president of Core Executive Recruiting, said that his company follows what he called the \u201c90\/10\u201d rule when meeting with clients and potential customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity has-very-light-gray-to-cyan-bluish-gray-gradient-background has-background is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>READ ALSO:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/how-top-cre-brokers-hone-their-reputations\/\">How Top CRE Brokers Hone Their Reputations<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity has-very-light-gray-to-cyan-bluish-gray-gradient-background has-background is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNinety percent of the time you\u2019re with somebody, spend most of that talking about them as individuals\u2014as people\u2014and then 10 percent you talk about business,\u201d Courson explained. \u201cIf you get business, great. But regardless, you really gain a ton of friendships.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The core of this approach, Courson said, is putting people first\u2014and then business will follow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-doubling-down-on-the-human-touch\">Doubling down on the human touch<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/executive-council-the-skill-you-need-for-a-cre-career-that-no-one-warned-you-about\/\">CRE skills<\/a> have always been relationship-dominated. As AI makes information and data analysis increasingly accessible, those relationship and trust-building abilities will be even more crucial for industry professionals to distinguish themselves, according to Paul Voss, president of the leadership consulting firm Ethikos and an associate professor at Georgia State University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere are lots of people who can do what you do,\u201d Voss told a packed room, projecting loudly from the stage with no microphone. \u201cWhat makes you different is how you do what you do.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How you do what you do, Voss explained, refers to traits like demonstrating empathy, maintaining strong relationships and being able to effectively communicate and build rapport. These are all things unique to humans, and that is not likely to change anytime soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-maintaining-a-work-life-balance\">Maintaining a work-life balance<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Property management is a demanding field. From dealing with difficult tenants to lining up vendors, tasks can often spread beyond a typical 9-to-5 schedule. Across both the networking panel and Voss\u2019 talk, the speakers reminded attendees to focus on what really matters in the grand scheme of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cRemember that when you quit or get fired, they will replace you in a heartbeat\u2014won\u2019t think twice about it,\u201d said Kimberly Hagwood, managing partner &amp; co-owner of Melan Property Management, who shared that she recently quit what she called \u201can amazing job\u201d of nearly 10 years in order to spend more time with her granddaughter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYour family must come first,\u201d she emphasized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Voss also told his audience to balance what he called \u201cresume virtues,\u201d such as your career history, skills and credentials, with your \u201ceulogy virtues,\u201d meaning the more personal aspects of your life that people will remember you for. While both are important, many resume virtues may end up being commoditized by technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYour resume virtues are AI,&#8221; Voss said. &#8220;Your eulogy virtues are your humanity.
