John Hancock originated the $45 million loan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The owner acquired the property in 1995 for $5.8 million, or roughly $45 per square foot, the same data provider shows. In 2016, the asset became subject to a $46 million loan, funded by Sun Life Financial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Completed in 1958, Montecito Plaza is located at 209 Third St. on some 9 acres, just off U.S. Route 101 and has access to Interstate 580. Downtown San Francisco is less than 20 miles away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Retailers Trader Joe\u2019s and Petco anchor the property, with Chipotle, T-Mobile and UPS also part of the tenant roster. The shopping center has some 370 parking spaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additional retailers in the neighborhood include Whole Foods, United Markets and Dollar Tree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-favorable-retail-fundamentals-ahead\">Favorable retail fundamentals ahead<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Amid multiple economic distruptors, retail experts <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/icsc-special-report-opportunities-in-an-evolving-market\/\">conveyed an optimistic future<\/a> for the industry at this year&#8217;s ICSC Las Vegas conference.
