That is ever closer to pre-pandemic office space utilization, but still 30.8 percent on average below October 2019 levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That average obscures considerable variation among the markets. Miami and New York City are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/office-visits-surge-in-september-placer-ai\/\">still leading the pack<\/a> in the post-pandemic RTO recovery, now at rates only 10.2 percent and 16.2 percent below October 2019, respectively. This year, a number of major employers, such as Toyota, JP Morgan Chase, the Washington Post, Paramount\/Skydance, and even the federal government rolled out five-day-a-week in-office mandates, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.placer.ai\/anchor\/articles\/october-2025-placer-ai-office-index-continued-momentum\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">the report noted<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even so, visits remain heavily concentrated midweek despite the rise in five-day office mandates. Friday is the most popular day to stay home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Between January and October 2025, according to Placer.ai data, only 12.4 percent of weekday visits to office space took place on Fridays, an anemic amount compared to other days. Some 24.3 percent of visits were on Tuesdays, 23.7 percent on Wednesdays, and 21.8 percent on Thursdays. The number of job openings decreased in only three states, increased in one state, and changed little in 46 states and the District of Columbia in July, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/news.release\/jltst.nr0.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported<\/a> (which is still the most recent report, due to the federal shutdown).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Likewise, the number of total job separations (quits, firing) decreased in three states, increased in three states, and changed little in 44 states and the District of Columbia in July, according to the BLS.
