It features double-deck cross-belt sorters, intelligent sorting logistics systems, robotic automation and a dual-deck throughput of six parcels per second, with the hub processing over 40,000 parcels per hour and handling more than 800,000 parcels daily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity has-very-light-gray-to-cyan-bluish-gray-gradient-background has-background is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>READ ALSO<\/strong>: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/e-commerce-continues-to-steer-logistics-demand\/\">E-Commerce Continues to Steer Logistics Demand<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity has-very-light-gray-to-cyan-bluish-gray-gradient-background has-background is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>EWR Super Hub is one of the two new distribution and sorting centers that GOFO will open in October, the second one being located in Los Angeles. Once operational, these facilities\u2014the result of a $150 million investment\u2014will expand GOFO&#8217;s sorting ability to nearly 540 million packages on an annual basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-e-commerce-growth-fuels-logistics-expansion\">E-commerce growth fuels logistics expansion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>E-commerce continues to drive industrial real estate demand nationwide, as the sector\u2019s need for warehouse and logistics space follows the ongoing rise of online shopping. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the companies that are expanding but also refining their logistics real estate holdings is Amazon, which announced in April the intent to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/report-amazon-plans-15b-warehouse-expansion\/\">raise up to $15 billion<\/a> for purchasing warehouses and distribution sites across the country. The e-commerce giant would target <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/the-case-for-last-mile-facilities\/\">last-mile distribution centers<\/a> and multi-story fulfillment hubs equipped with advanced technologies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the end of the same month, Amazon said it would invest more than $4 billion to expand its U.S. rural distribution network by 2026.
