View from District Pier. <em>Photo courtesy of Hoffman-Madison Waterfront (HMW) (PRNewsfoto\/The Wharf)<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>About 18 months after acquiring several business lines from Washington, D.C.\u2013based <strong>Madison Marquette<\/strong>, <strong>Avison Young<\/strong> has bought several more, the <em>Washington Business Journal<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This time, the Toronto-based CRE company has acquired Madison Marquette\u2019s specialty leasing, retail property management, marketing and leasing businesses. All in all, these encompass more than 6.1 million square feet of assets nationwide and 37 personnel across 10 states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The deal reportedly closed on Jan. 1, under undisclosed terms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Madison Marquette\u2019s Gavin Farnam, who headed the firm\u2019s retail property management and leasing teams, will carry out the same responsibilities for Avison Young as principal &amp; managing director of U.S. retail services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-cyan-bluish-gray-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-cyan-bluish-gray-background-color has-background is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>READ ALSO<\/strong>: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/2024-cre-forecast-is-an-investment-comeback-ahead\/\">Is an Investment Comeback Ahead?<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-cyan-bluish-gray-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-cyan-bluish-gray-background-color has-background is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Madison Marquette is co-developer of The Wharf on Washington\u2019s Southwest waterfront and will retain access to the retail team, to manage and lease retail space in its mixed-use portfolio. In turn, Avison Young will be able to tap Madison Marquette\u2019s investment and development advisory services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In an interview, Harry Klaff, principal &amp; U.S. president at Avison Young, told the <em>WBJ<\/em> that he anticipates more acquisitions through this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among the executives in different regions around the country who are moving from Madison Marquette to Avison Young are Heather Almond, who will lead property management and marketing strategy; Meghann Martindale, who will lead research; Steve Toppel, who will serve as principal for retail leasing; and Dave Brown, who will serve as principal of specialty leasing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-act-i\">Act I<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In August 2022, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/avison-young-acquires-business-lines-from-madison-marquette\/\">Avison Young acquired<\/a> Madison Marquette\u2019s office and industrial property management, agency leasing, and project management service lines, adding more than 20 million square feet under management to its portfolio and 235 personnel to its team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The acquisition brought AY into Hawaii and added to its presence in 11 states, including Texas, California and the East Coast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But that earlier deal had another side: It created a partnership that enables Madison Marquette to access Avison Young\u2019s data analytics, technology and global real estate platform, AVANT by Avison Young.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This time, the acquisition includes specialty leasing and retail property management. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":882,"featured_media":1004311958,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[21784,21808,21783,23891,21742,21785,21749],"tags":[33022,33671],"class_list":["post-1004697331","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-brokerage","category-featured","category-investment","category-national","category-latest","category-property-management","category-retail","tag-avison-young","tag-madison-marquette"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v23.4 (Yoast SEO v24.6) -
