Construction has begun on the 820-acre Commerce Crossroads industrial park in Cedar City, Utah, and the park\u2019s first tenant has begun operating there, the developers announced on Wednesday, Aug. 23.<\/p>\n

The project is being developed by BZI Steel<\/strong>, an area contractor and steel fabricator, and affiliate companies including Commerce Crossroads<\/strong>, in conjunction with the Utah Inland Port Authority. Upon completion, the development reportedly will be Utah\u2019s first rural inland port. The site is in southwestern Utah, 8 miles west of I-15 and north of Zion National Park and west of Bryce Canyon National Park.<\/p>\n

Commerce Crossroads\u2019 first tenant is RailSync, a new transloading service that\u2019s already connected to the Union Pacific Railroad and is receiving rail cars of steel and lumber products for businesses in Iron County.<\/p>\n

The industrial park will initially include office buildings, on-site products and services to build tailored processing facilities for customers. The developers anticipate technology, construction material manufacturing, data centers, e-commerce and distribution users to be part of the mix, as well as office space and housing.<\/p>\n

Commerce Crossroads will also be the site of the new BZI headquarters, scheduled to break ground next year.<\/p>\n

VISCO<\/strong>, an affiliated general contractor, will be available for build-to-suit contracting services.<\/p>\n

Desert blooming<\/h2>\n

The park received state-level approval<\/a> in April. An outline for the development called for an eventual 41 buildings totaling about 8 million square feet.<\/p>\n

In January, Dalfen Industrial<\/strong> acquired Desert Peaks Logistics Center in West Jordan, Utah, from the Boyer Co.<\/strong> The newly completed industrial park has three buildings totaling 183,792 square feet, of which two buildings are preleased.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
