That&#8217;s because the consensus of global leaders and environmentalists at the conference was that the buildings industry, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unep.org\/resources\/publication\/2022-global-status-report-buildings-and-construction\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">which accounts for 37 percent of energy- and process-related CO2 emissions and 34 percent of energy demand<\/a>, is not on track to achieve net zero by 2050.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Welcome back to Sustainability Street, our podcast on the intersection of commercial real estate and the world we live in.
