Image courtesy of Brookfield Properties<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>Brookfield Properties<\/strong> has signed an anchor tenant to its Midtown Manhattan office redevelopment project, the company announced on Monday. Financial services giant <strong>Macquarie Group<\/strong> will occupy 221,764 square feet across six floors at 660 Fifth Ave., where it will establish its new Americas regional headquarters.<\/p>\n<p>As anchor tenant, Macquarie\u2019s new space will include a private lobby entrance on the first and second floors of the tower, as well as 30,000 square feet of private outdoor terraces. The firm will also have signage at the top of the building. Macquarie is slated to move to the new space from its current offices at 125 W. 55th St. in late 2024, according to the release.<\/p>\n<p>The Australian firm\u2019s long-term lease marks the first tenant signed at the 1.2 million-square-foot building, according to Brookfield. After purchasing the building in 2018, Brookfield is nearing completion on its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/a-sneak-peek-inside-brookfields-660-fifth-avenue-revamp\/\">$400 million redevelopment<\/a> of the 39-story property, located on Fifth Avenue between 52nd and 53rd Streets in the Plaza District.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>READ ALSO: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/how-designers-put-natural-materials-to-work-in-the-office\/\">How Designers Put Natural Materials to Work in the Office<\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Built in 1957, 660 Fifth\u2019s original fa\u00e7ade featured embossed aluminum panels that have been replaced with insulated glass panels as part of the redevelopment. According to Brookfield, the windows are the largest ever used on a commercial high-rise building.<\/p>\n<p>Architecture firm Kohn Pederson Fox is behind the building\u2019s reboot, which will also include an updated lobby, new rooftop terraces, updated elevators and mechanical systems, and new ground-floor retail space.<\/p>\n<p>Mikael Nahmias, senior vice president at Brookfield Properties, said in prepared remarks that Macquarie\u2019s lease \u201cunderscores the demand\u201d for high-quality office properties in New York City.<\/p>\n<p>A <strong>JLL <\/strong>team of Peter Riguardi, Frank Doyle, Joseph Messina, Steven Rotter, Cynthia Wasserberger, Jessica Berkey, William McGarry, Carlee Palmer and Kristina Kopans represented Macquarie in the lease deal.
