In a joint letter, some of the sector\u2019s most notable organizations including the American Council on Renewable Energy, American Wind Energy Association, Energy Storage Association, National Hydropower Association, Renewable Energy Buyers Alliance and the Solar Energy Industries Association have asked for <a href=\"https:\/\/acore.org\/renewable-energy-sector-letter-to-congress-on-the-covid-19-pandemic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">an extension of tax incentives<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The authors of the letter point out that the growth of the sector, which in the past five years has equated to more than $50 billion in annual investment, is at risk to be suspended due to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/covid-19-and-the-renewable-energy-impact\/\">supply chain disruptions<\/a> that will likely delay construction timetables and impair developers\u2019 to qualify for time-sensitive tax credits.<\/p>\n<p>Specifically, the coalition of organizations that represents thousands of renewable energy companies, asks for an extension of start construction and safe harbor deadlines; provisions allowing renewable tax credits to be available for direct payment to facilitate their monetization in the face of reduced availability of tax equity and the enactment of a direct pay tax credit for standalone energy storage to foster renewable growth and help secure a resilient grid especially during these critic times.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The coalition outlines the impacts of COVID-19 on the industry and calls for action to protect U.S. jobs and renewable energy growth.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":237,"featured_media":1004372630,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[23891,21742,21786],"tags":[47696,48950,37660],"class_list":["post-1004402273","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-national","category-latest","category-sustainability","tag-american-wind-energy-association","tag-coronavirus","tag-solar-energy-industries-association"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v23.4 (Yoast SEO v24.6) -
