Two years after breaking ground<\/a> on their new training facility in Detroit, the Detroit Pistons NBA basketball team is ready to move downtown. The $90 million, 185,000-square-foot property built together with Henry Ford Health System has opened in the New Center area, as the largest of its kind in the NBA. The four-story property anchors a mixed-use development which also provides access to retail, grocery, restaurant and fitness options.<\/p>\n

The Henry Ford Performance Center is situated approximately 2 miles north of the new Little Caesars Arena and is connected to the William Clay Ford Center for Athletic Medicine. The 100,000-square-foot training facility encompasses a player locker room and lounge, a full-service kitchen with personal chefs, weight room, film study room and positional meeting rooms as well as an advanced training room with three hydro pools and cryogenic treatment systems. The property will host youth basketball clinics and Pistons Academy basketball programs throughout the year. The Pistons\u2019 corporate headquarters also includes a spacious lobby, second-floor skyway and event space, Rocket Fiber broadcast studio and media rooms as well as a parking lot accommodating up to 370 vehicles.<\/p>\n

The other component of the property is the sports medicine, treatment and rehabilitation facility with services provided by Henry Ford Health System. Plum Market will provide food service for the team, with the firm planning to open a new caf\u00e9 and retail store inside the development by the end of the year. The 15,000-square-foot fitness area, also scheduled for completion by year-end, will be managed by Blink Fitness.     <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
