The Eight Point project will have a generating capacity of 102 megawatts.<\/p>\n<p>The facility will consist of 31 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/worlds-biggest-offshore-wind-turbine-blade-ready-for-testing\/\">wind turbines<\/a>, a collection substation, mostly underground 34.5-kilovolt collection lines, up to two permanent meteorological towers, temporary staging and laydown areas, an operations and maintenance building and related facilities. In addition, the project will also include the construction of access roads.<\/p>\n<p>The plan also includes a transmission facility with an approximately 16.5-mile overhead 115kV transmission line that would interconnect the project with New York State Electric and Gas Corp.\u2019s existing 115kV Bennett substation in the Town of Hornellsville. The developer is an affiliate of NextEra Energy Resources.<\/p>\n<p>The project\u2019s development is expected to create 103 construction-related jobs and pay $17.5 million in local payroll. Upon completion, Eight Point Wind will hire six employees to handle operations, with an associated local payroll of approximately $500,000.
