Health-care provider DaVita has signed two virtual power purchase agreements<\/a> with Longroad Energy of Boston facilitating the development of clean energy projects in Texas. The goal is to power its North American operations with 100 percent renewable energy by 2022.<\/p>\n

DaVita\u2019s share of the two projects in Texas\u2014a wind park and a solar farm\u2014will generate approximately 625,000-megawatt hours of clean energy per year. This is the equivalent of diverting carbon dioxide emissions from the annual electricity use of about 52,000 U.S. households. Schneider Electric Energy & Sustainability Services acted as an advisor to DaVita on the selection of the projects.<\/p>\n

“Executing a wind and a solar deal at the same time, in the same region, is an innovative strategy. Wind and solar generate electricity at different times of the day and different times of the year.
