Charlotte Plaza<\/p><\/div>\n

NTE Energy plans to open an office in Charlotte, N.C., at the end of February. The independent power producer leased 1,854 square feet at Charlotte Plaza, a 27-floor office building in the city\u2019s central business district.<\/p>\n

Located on the last floor of the 630,424-square-foot building, NTE Energy\u2019s satellite office will serve staff working with the firm’s customers in the area. According to Yardi Matrix data, Charlotte Plaza is a Class A property built in 1981, with tenants including Liberty Mutual Insurance, CBRE, Gresham, Smith & Partners, Capgemini, Citco, Hines, Colville Capital and Tryon Medical Partners, among others. Rabina Properties owns the high-rise building, after acquiring it from Hines Interests<\/a> in 2015 for $160 million.<\/p>\n

Expanding presence in the area<\/h2>\n

NTE Energy is building a 475-megawatt natural gas-fired power plant in Reidsville, N.C., and another 1,500-megawatt plant in Anderson County, S.C. The company is also developing the 30-megawatt Fayetteville Solar Energy Center. Currently, NTE provides power to 12 municipalities and electric co-operative customers across the Carolinas. Four new communities began service from NTE on January 1: Greenwood and McCormick in South Carolina and Concord and Kings Mountain in North Carolina. The firm owns a 475-megawatt energy center in Kings Mountain.<\/p>\n

“As more and more communities across the Carolinas recognize the economic and environmental benefits of receiving cleaner, more affordable power from NTE Energy, it made sense for us to open an office in Charlotte,”<\/em> said NTE Energy CEO Seth Shortlidge, in prepared remarks. Currently, the company has other offices in Boston and St. Augustine, Fla.  <\/p>\n
