The initiative is part of a plan to develop 3,000 megawatts of additional solar and wind power under the state\u2019s new Grid Transformation &amp; Security Act (GTSA).<\/p>\n<p>The GTSA became law on July 1, 2018, and paves the way for the largest increase of renewable energy resources in the state\u2019s history. The company has pledged to have 3,000 megawatts\u2014which generate enough energy to power 750,000 homes\u2014under development or in operation by early 2022. Dominion plans to issue RfPs every year, until the pledge has been met.<\/p>\n<h2>RfP features<\/h2>\n<p>The current RfP is soliciting bids for energy, capacity and environmental attributes including Renewable Energy Certificates, but with well-set criteria\u2014all new solar and onshore wind facilities should be at least 5 megawatts in size, must be located in Virginia and start commercial operation in 2020. The proposals can be for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/the-abcs-of-ppas\/\">power purchase agreements<\/a> and\/or the purchase of development projects.<\/p>\n<p>Notices of Intent to Bid and Confidentiality Agreements are due by Nov. 2, 2018, with final asset purchase and power purchase proposals due Dec. 13, 2018, and March 14, 2019, respectively.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The company has pledged to have 3,000 megawatts under development or in operation by early 2022 under Virginia\u2019s new Grid Transformation &amp;
