{"id":1004209920,"date":"2018-03-12T07:50:48","date_gmt":"2018-03-12T15:50:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/?p=1004209920"},"modified":"2022-12-08T01:53:50","modified_gmt":"2022-12-08T09:53:50","slug":"europes-first-green-certification-of-a-cre-loan-goes-to-paris","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/europes-first-green-certification-of-a-cre-loan-goes-to-paris\/","title":{"rendered":"Paris Towers Earn Europe\u2019s 1st Green Bond Certification"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Anca Gagiuc<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Ivanho\u00e9 Cambridge and Natixis Assurances, partners in the DUO towers development in Paris, have been awarded the \u201cClimate Bond Certified\u201d label by Climate Bonds Initiative (CBI) for the aforementioned project. The certification marks Europe\u2019s first green-labelled commercial real estate loan, which totaled nearly $600 million (\u20ac480 million).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>DUO landed the loan in November last year, from a banking syndicate consisting of BNP Paribas, Cr\u00e9dit Agricole Corporate &amp; Investment Bank, Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG, La Banque Postale, Natixis and Banque Europ\u00e9enne du Cr\u00e9dit Mutuel, represented by Cr\u00e9dit Agricole Corporate &amp; Investment Bank. To receive the CBI certification, DUO mandated German rating agency oekom research AG as verifier of the Low Carbon Buildings \u2013 Commercial Properties standard and organized the reporting structure for the monitoring of environmental certifications, energy consumptions and carbon dioxide emissions.<\/p>\n<p>Natixis, as the green certification agent on the loan, plans on expanding its role in green and responsible financing. Ivanho\u00e9 Cambridge, which mandated Natixis to conduct the certification process, also intends to up its role in this emerging green lending market.<\/p>\n<p>DUO is a major urban architectural project encompassing more than 1 million square feet in the 13<sup>th<\/sup> arrondissement of Paris. Designed by Ateliers Jean Nouvel, the mixed-use development consists of two towers (29 and 39 stories), various areas open to the public and more than 21,500 square feet of green space.<\/p>\n<h2>Evergreen development<\/h2>\n<p>The DUO project is set to be built to the highest standards of environmental and energy performance to earn several green certifications, including: the Effingie+ label, HQE Exceptional and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/watt-plaza-recertified-to-leed-platinum-level\/\">LEED Platinum<\/a>.
