Senior debt offerings comprised $56.1 billion of the total raised, followed by $29.6 billion raised through common stock offerings and $8.6 through preferred stock offerings. Among the REIT property sectors, the specialty sector raised the greatest amount of capital in 2017, at $29.8 billion, with communications REITs accounting for 43.3 percent of the total amount raised.
