Located at the intersection of Cedar Street and Kettner Boulevard, in San Diego\u2019s Little Italy neighborhood, BRIDGE&#8217;s eight-story building will offer 57 affordable apartments for low-income seniors who earn 30 to 60 percent of area median income (currently $21,800 to $43,680 for a two-person household). Moreover,\u00a05 percent of the units will be set aside for seniors enrolled in the county-administered Mental Health Services Act program. Holland Partner Group will develop 196 market-rate apartments in an adjacent 29-story tower with three levels of underground parking. Both properties will feature street-level retail and restaurant spaces.<\/p>\n<p>In keeping with the guiding principles of the Downtown Community Plan, the developers are working with architect AVRP Skyport to create a live-work-play environment.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe vision is to create a synergistic feeling of place, providing much-needed housing next to transit, integrating a mix of uses into a vibrant historic community and activating an underutilized parcel,\u201d<\/em> said Cynthia Parker, president &amp; CEO of BRIDGE, in prepared remarks.<\/p>\n<p>AVRP\u2019s design concept includes elements such as aluminum, spandrel glass and vertical angled features. Both buildings are being designed to meet LEED Gold standards.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>BRIDGE also recently broke ground on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.multihousingnews.com\/post\/bridge-housing-breaks-ground-on-jordan-downs-revitalization\/\">affordable housing development<\/a>\u00a0in Los Angeles, which will transform Jordan Downs, a former public housing development, into 115 affordable apartments across 12 buildings, as part of the first phase.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>Image courtesy of BRIDGE Housing<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Designed to meet LEED Gold standards, both properties feature street-level retail and restaurant spaces.
