Developed by a joint venture of The Davis Cos. and Omni Hotel Management Corp.,\u00a0the hotel will comprise more than 788,500 square feet and will create more than 1,100 construction jobs and 700 permanent positions.<\/p>\n<p>Located at 440 Summer St., the 1.7-acre site is situated across the street from the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center (BCEC). The project proposes the construction of a direct connection to BCEC, either through an underground pedestrian tunnel or a ground-level tunnel along Fargo Street. The 1,050-key hotel will rise 21 stories and will feature ballrooms, function rooms, meeting spaces and 40,000 square feet of retail, including several restaurants.<\/p>\n<h2>Public realm improvements<\/h2>\n<p>The project will bring public realm improvements along Summer Street, World Trade Center Avenue and D Street. The hotel parking will be situated in the new South Boston Waterfront Transportation Center, to which it will be connected via a pedestrian bridge.<\/p>\n<p>Although Massport, which owns the site,\u00a0is exempt from the\u00a0Boston Zoning Code requirements, the company, along with Davis Cos. and Omni Hotel Management Corp., has nonetheless voluntarily submitted the project to the Article 80B Large Project Review process, in order to get feedback on the design and an overview about the project\u2019s potential impact.<\/p>\n<p>Based upon the current plans for the hotel, a Neighborhood Housing Trust payment of $5,742,090 and a Neighborhood Jobs Trust payment of $1,148,795 will be contributed in accordance with the project\u2019s status as a Development Impact Project.<\/p>\n<p>Marking another recent New England Transaction, The Davis Cos. acquired\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/nkf-arranges-27m-retail-sale-in-nh\/\">three shopping centers<\/a>\u00a0in West Lebanon, N.H., totaling more than 230,000 square feet, in December.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The approved project includes a 1,050-key hotel and the creation of new, direct connections to South Boston Waterfront Transportation Center and the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":739,"featured_media":1004201072,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[1490,21782,21751,21742,10,21785],"tags":[35067,35120],"class_list":["post-1004201071","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-boston","category-development","category-hotel","category-latest","category-northeast","category-property-management","tag-omni-hotels-resorts","tag-the-davis-companies"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v23.4 (Yoast SEO v24.6) -
