Catellus Development Corp. announced it selected Austin Modern Lofts\u00a0as the contractor and that the groundbreaking will take place in early 2018.<\/p>\n<p>The new mixed-use development will be located at the northwest corner of Berkman Drive and Tom Miller Street and will consist of 91 for-sale units\u201435 condos featuring approximately 6,000 square feet of ground level retail space and 56 townhomes. Of the townhomes, five will be shop houses that will also include first-floor commercial space with two stories of living space above. The condo units will be single-level lofts within three-story buildings.<\/p>\n<h2>Affordable option<\/h2>\n<p>Designed by MWM Design Group, the development will feature direct views of downtown Austin and Mueller\u2019s Southwest Greenway. Amenities will include open space areas and walkways within the property, as well as roof and patio terraces, tall ceilings and contemporary finishes. The development will be part of the Ready, Set, Own affordable homes program, with 29 units reserved for income-qualified households. Move-in is anticipated for the first quarter of 2019.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWe\u2019re pleased to welcome a new homebuilder who appreciates Mueller\u2019s goal for more dense and diverse home products that appeal to a wide variety of homebuyers,\u201d <\/em>Ken Blaker, senior vice president of development at Catellus, said in prepared remarks. <em>\u201cAustin Modern Lofts has a strong reputation and tremendous experience in this type of product.
